Hello. I have inherited a HP 9000 series E35 server that has stopped working. It is running HPUX (10.2-I think). The fault light is on (steady) on the front of the server and it will not boot. It only goes to a CM> prompt, which I have never seen before. Initial research through HP indicated a hardware failure, so I replaced the power supply, but it didn't fix the problem. Has anyone seen that command prompt? Help!

Try "rs" followed by "yes". Also try "he" for help.

I tried rs and yes. It just cycled through some tests and said SPU successfully reset, but did not give me another prompt and did not reboot the server. (?)

Well, I have to guess that your box is fried. Something besides the power supply needs to be fixed.

Any suggestions as to what the fault light indicates? Or how I can tell if the hard drive is okay?
