Hi,

I have a xml file from which I need to extract the string "codErro=0" and perform an action based on the value being 0 or something else.

sample file:

<soapenv:Body soapenv:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><ns0:getStatus xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:ns0="http://OutputMessageNamespace"><getRep xsi:type="ns:Schema" xmlns:ns="getWS"><response>codErro=0|descErro=Sucess</response></getStatus></ns0:getRep></soapenv:Body>

Any suggestions plz?

What action?

return an exit code 0 if codErro=0 and 1 if codErro <> 0

The following command will exit after the first occurrence of codErro.
Use nawk or /usr/xpg4/bin/awk on Solaris.

Code:

awk -FcodErro= 'NF>1{exit $2?1:0}' RS=\| filename

I am getting the fwg err:
awk: syntax error near line 1
awk: illegal statement near line 1

As already stated use nawk or /usr/xpg4/bin/awk on Solaris.

Sorry, it works with nawk. However it exits all the same without delivering the exit code. I changed the string codErro to junk but there is no change in the execution..
