Help in unix in awk

Hi,

I have a file as given below
Code:
$cat int_check
239|adf123@yahoo.com|999e
23e|get@rediff.com|987
233|get@rediff.com|987

I am running the command as given to find whether field 1 and 3 have proper integer values or not.
Code:
awk -F'|' 'int($1)!=$1 || int($3)!=$3' int_check
239|adf123@yahoo.com|999e
23e|get@rediff.com|987

I am getting the right output but can i get the output in this format.
Error in field 1 or 3|239|adf123@yahoo.com|999e
Error in field 1 or 3|23e|get@rediff.com|987

Hey bartus,
Thanks a lot. It worked. You missed the }.
I used this and it worked.
Code:
awk -F'|' 'int($1)!=$1 || int($3)!=$3{printf "Error in field 1 or 3|"$0"\n"}' int_check

Hi ,

I am facing as issue in substituting the variable here.

I am assigning value to a variable as given
Code:
format=`echo "{printf \"Error in field 1 or 3|\"\$0\"\\n\"}"`

=> format will have {printf "Error in field 1 or 3|"$0"\n"}
Now i want to echo it (format variable) as it is in script meaning i dont want $0 value to be substituted.
How can i achieve this??

Hi ,

When i run the command
Code:
format='{printf "Error in field 1 or 3|"$0"\n"}'
echo "format is $format"

I am getting the result as
Code:
Format is {printf "Error in field 1 or 3|"$0"
"}

It is not printing \n as it is.It is going to new line.
