chroot - run command or interactive shell with special root directory
SYNOPSIS
chroot [OPTION] NEWROOT [COMMAND [ARG]...]
chroot OPTION
DESCRIPTION
Run COMMAND with root directory set to NEWROOT.
--userspec=USER:GROUP
specify user and group (ID or name) to use
--groups=G_LIST
specify supplementary groups as g1,g2,..,gN
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
If no command is given, run '${SHELL} -i' (default: '/bin/sh -i').

HI ,
I am trying to setup chrooted environment on RHEL4, for squid proxy.
I have copied the required libraries and stuff for chroot. Used the below for chroot-shell .
user is squid
# grep squid /etc/passwd
squid:x:500:501::/opt/squid:/bin/chroot-shell
directory trying to jail is... (2 Replies)
Installed GNU make and the GNU C/C++ compiler on SCO Openserver 5.0.7 recently.
Only a normal user is able to run make and compile programs - root is not able to.
Under root, make do run, but root can't access the compiler at all, even tho I set root's path to point to the compiler.... (0 Replies)
Good day. I was looking at implementing a chroot environment using openssh. I know I can use the sshd_config file and dictate that it is to use chroot for a specific directory for a user/group.
