I have a dhcp server and I am am using fixed-address to specify fixed address for my machines like so:

subnet 1.2.3.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
option routers 1.2.3.1;
host myhost {
hardware ethernet 00:00:00:00:00:11;
fixed-address 1.2.3.4;
}
}

In the dhcpd.log I get a whole bunch of DHCPDECLINE errors for all the fixed-address hosts like so:

dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 1.2.3.4 to 00:00:00:00:00:11 via 1.2.3.1
dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 1.2.3.4 (xx.xx.xx.xx) from 00:00:00:00:00:11 via 1.2.3.1
dhcpd: DHCPACK on 1.2.3.4 to 00:00:00:00:00:11 via 1.2.3.1
dhcpd: DHCPDECLINE of 1.2.3.4 from 00:00:00:00:00:11 via 1.2.3.1: not found


There is no other device with the address of 1.2.3.4, why is the client refusing the IP address? More over, when I boot the client or restart its network, it does get the IP address offered by the dhcp, i.e. 1.2.3.4. Why does it produce those errors if it does in fact use the address? And those errors are produced every minute for every server with the fixed-address.

I have changed the address to protect the innocent.

Any help would be appreciated.
