When i was trying to get total number of threads per java process using this command ps -o NLWP PID, I'm not getting any output. Could someone help me in this issue.

I would like to save my output data in two columns. I tried print(x,y) but have two problems:
1. There are ~10000 values for each x and y, but the intermediates are omitted;

I'd like to remove this defunct processes without rebooting. Or, I could remove this defuncts when the maximum allowable process is nearly reached, then send an email to the user/team. How can I determine the maximum allowable process that a server can handle? Any thoughts?

Hi Gurus,
Have a file seperated by "~" and no of fields is 104. When i try to run awk, it erros out.
awk: record `B~A31~T24_STF~~~2009...' has too many fields
Any idea how can i extract a specific filed with this many fields in a row.

To find out that I tried a simple script.
And the maximum number of arguments that could be passed turned out to be 23394

NAME
ctrlaltdel - set the function of the Ctrl-Alt-Del combination
SYNOPSIS
ctrlaltdel hard|soft
DESCRIPTION
Based on examination of the linux/kernel/sys.c code, it is clear that there are two supported functions that the Ctrl-Alt-Del sequence can
perform: a hard reset, which immediately reboots the computer without calling sync(2) and without any other preparation; and a soft reset,
which sends the SIGINT (interrupt) signal to the init process (this is always the process with PID 1). If this option is used, the init(8)
program must support this feature. Since there are now several init(8) programs in the Linux community, please consult the documentation
for the version that you are currently using.
ctrlaltdel is usually used in the /etc/rc.local file.
