The particular Linux distro that's right for you is dependent on exactly what you're trying to do.

No you cannot install it on NTFS (you'd have to resize any existing partitions before commencing your install) so that (to answer your fourth question) it coincides with your Windows installation.
Google for "Linux Windows Dual Boot" it is very common to do this.
