installing Fedora Core 3 - is it always this hard?

Hiya all

RE: My previous post on installing FC-3.

on a more serious note....

Is it always this much of a pain to install?
Or do I have a knackered CD drive?

(When it did the Cd scan at the start of the install - all 4 scanned fine 1st time tho....)

Please advise... as I'm thinking of mow doing a full install of all components - but bit concerned I might not get it installed at all if I try again!

I had problems with FC2, but I finally realized that I was burning the CD's at too high speed. I must have had crappy CD's. Once I lowered the speed, I didnt have any problems.

But that doesnt seem to be your problem because they checked clean.

Almost there on the FULL install....

YEEEESSSSS!
Plus idiots "start" button! Smilie

lessons learn't

1. Disc Check - impt.... because...

2. If keep getting read errors - keep re-trying

3. Pop CD out then in again if have to
* Time hitting the "ENTER" Button when CD is spinning at max... (?!?!? hey it works!)

I'm guessing it really helps if:
1. decent CD burns
2. Quality CD Reader
3. And don't put the PC on side - so CD player is vertical! (wobbling Cds and all that!)
