How to get system mode & serial number under vmware/linux?

The system is under VMware control and the OS is CenOS 4.6.

The command dmidecode does not display system mode and serial number as usual. How can I get the info from CenOS Linux?

Thank you!

Since you are not presenting real hardware under VMware, you are not going to get that from the guest. You must query the host to get that information.
