I have a client that wants the ability to view internet usage, sight visited, time and host ip address of the node. They are experiencing abuse on the internet and want to control it so I proposed to install Squid/Dansguardian transparent proxy and for reporting run an analyzer against the log files of squid and or dansguardian. For now they want me to install network monitoring capabilities to be able to view there network traffic. I have looked Zenoss, NTOP and others and I do not see an all-in-one product so I have to use several. I was told that I could pull the syslog files of the Cisco 2800 router and run an analyzer against the log file to pull the data that I need and use awstats to have fancy reporting to display and that can produce alot of what I need. If this is the case can someone point me in the right direction? I need a solution ASAP. They have a very low budget so that is why I am looking into using open-source products. Help.
