OS X & VPN DNS Issue
I'll try and be brief and detailed.

I have a Macbook Pro Retina running Mavericks. When on my network at the office (work) everything local works just fine. Local servers are resolved through our internal DNS settings. For example, we have a fileserver at "fs01". I can connect to it with just that.

So, when I'm not on VPN (PPTP) everything works. When I connect to my VPN, all of my local DNS resolution starts to fail. I can still connect to everything locally using IP's just not names. So, "fs01" is at "10.133.0.231" and if I use that I can connect, ping, etc. Ping of the name "fs01" while on VPN returns:

I've wondered if it was a route issue but since I can get to it via IP I don't think so. It must be a DNS thing. But, my system tells me that it is using the local DNS servers as primary. Here is the output of nslookup server:

Please help! Does anyone know why local dns lookups fail once I connect to the VPN?

Maybe there is a firewall somewhere in the VPN configuration which is blocking?
