Linux Firewall

ON A LINUX NETWORK, HOW DO I ASSIGN IP ADDRESSES TO OTHER TERMINALS AND AFTER THAT HOW I CAN DENY/GRANT ACCESS TO TERMINALS ON A LAN TO MY TERMINAL.PLEASE SPECIFY THE EXACT COMMANDS.kINDLY HELP ME

You can use DHCPD to assign IPs and iptables to filter the packages.

If you just don't want people using ssh to connect to your machines, look at this (i.e. use hosts.deny and hosts.allow).

Also, please don't use all caps when posting. It makes the post hard to read, and some people find it rude.

Sorry zazzybob for the delayed response. But Just after posting the message ,the LAN of lab of my College went out of order. I wanted to try it out and then reply to you.But it seems Lab will take time to come back to normalcy.
Yes, I just wanted to grant deny/access to other terminals and I found the link to be very useful.Thank you very much.

As regards the message in caps,this is the first discussion forum that I have joined .I will keep in mind not to type all caps henceforth.
