historical question - endianess

why Network Byte Order is Big-Endian, (not a Little-Endian, like most modern PCs use) ?

Our rules say "(8) No BSD vs. Linux vs. Windows or similar threads." and this question could easily lead to that type of prohibited thread. Some people wanted big-endian. Other people wanted little-endian. The coin landed heads up. Let it go at that. We don't need to restart this war.

Can Anybody tell me How can I send data in a network byte order via raw sockets?

Early this morning our sar reports show that WIO on the system was over 50% for about an hour. We also had some users complain about response time problems during this time.
