cant type "@"

guys .. on my HP-UX , I m not able to type @ sign...Smilie

when I type @ on the console.. it treats like enter key. i mean I get i command prompt again...
even copy paste of @ also doesnt work..
also i m able to type it in vi editor..

can any1 guess what cud be the possible reason...

Pl HELP.

stty -a  # will show if the @ key has been given a special status

Its the normal behaviour on an HP console...
Since you are not yet connected it hasent yet read the profile where stty is set...
You should not try to change it it may save your ilfe some time on front of the real console...
Now if you are talking of terminal, then the correct way is the use of backslash in front... \@...

If you are on one system and then you connect to a second system, "stty -a" shows the parameters of the 2nd system only. You need to look at the parameters of the system you originate from as well. And if you hop from system to system, you need to look at every system in the chain.
