Hi,
I have one boot disk (root disk) that is made for an HP visualize 132.
Then I want to use this boot disk with his original installation in a visualize 180. Of course it doesnt work!!
I was thinking to fix the problem what I have to do is to make a new kernel for the visualize 180. Does I am right? How can I do that? I cant boot in single user using this disk either.
I want to do that, because my servers are in differents citys, it took me like 3 days to make a complete new instalation with my applications, so I want to save time.
Visualize 132 and 180 have minimal hardware differences, only procesor speed and memory issues.

"doesn't work!!" is not much of an error report. Assuming that the kernel loads but cannot initialize, yes you need a new kernel. But how to test it? You would be building a kernel on the 132. Then you transfer the disk to the 180 and try it. Didn't work? Then put the disk back on the 132 and try again. If these boxes are in different cities, it won't take long to consume 3 days this way.

I never used a visualize. But I used hp-ux on many different boxes. I never needed a new kernel when I upgraded a cpu or memory. Also how to build a kernel changes from release to release. But sam should always know how. If the boxes need incompatible kernels, it may not be easy to coax the 132 into building a kernel for the 180.

The kernel starts loading then breaks. I cant send you any other report because I can even see what happens is really quick, is there any log where I can see that? In the rc.log apperas the kernel log?
I was thinking somethnig like boot from a rescue disk, and remake a kernel,but I am not very good with the ISL commands, do you know where can I get a manual about ISL?

There are only a very few ISL commands and they are documented on the isl man page.
