thanks for your reply perdabo, could you pls give me a hint how the following script written in tru64(digital unix) can convert in hp ux 11i

vdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /usr
vdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /data
vdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /kin

in this scrip /data will be in continuation of /usr and /kin will be the next to /data. as mr.qwrf replied using mt command we can go to the specified mountpoints and restore. but how it would be backed up. regards

thanks to everyone, especially perdoba and bowtorch, i got the exact conversion as follows
vxdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /usr
vxdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /data
vxdump -0uvf /dev/nrmt1h /kin

and its resore also possible with vxrestore. thanks folks.
