grep

Hi,

I have getting some files from customer, out of those files some files has data like "UNB". I have to process unb separately from other files. What I am trying to do is look for UNB and then move that file to some other dir and then process it later. Is there any way that I can combine grep with mv command.

please treat this a s urgent.

Regards,
Inder

Hi Vgersh99,

Thanks for your reply!!1

cd $GEISDIR
for i in *
do
[ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ] && echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil"
done
sleep 5
if [ -f $GEISDIR/$filen ]
then
cat $GEISDIR/M* >> $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate
cp $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate $RECENT/geisr.$totdate
cp $RECENT/geisr.$totdate $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
mv $GEISDIR/$filen $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
/usr/contrib/bin/gzip $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
chmod 0777 $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
fi

I am attaching here the code, I added your code at the top, if it finds any UNB it should move the file to /tmp/jabil otherwise rest of the processing should happen. Now what is happening is that it is moving the file to /tmp/jabil but after processing the file.
Am I doing something wrong here....

well..... I gave an example of checking the result of grep-ing - the actual implementation is up to you.

I think what you wan is this:
Code:
#!/bin/ksh
cd $GEISDIR
for i in *
do
if [ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ]
  && echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil"
else
   ...... the rest of you processing
fi

Hi Vgersh99,

cd $GEISDIR
for i in *
do
if [ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ] && echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil/"

else
cat $GEISDIR/M* >> $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate
cp $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate $RECENT/geisr.$totdate
cp $RECENT/geisr.$totdate $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
mv $GEISDIR/$filen $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
/usr/contrib/bin/gzip $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
chmod 0777 $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
fi

Is there something wrong in the syntax. I am getting this error.

I tried adding done also in the code, that did not help too.

Inder

sorry - bad copy/paste:
Code:
#!/bin/ksh
cd $GEISDIR
for i in *
do
  if [ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ] ; then
    echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil"
  else
     ...... the rest of your processing
  fi
done

Hi Vgersh99,

Thanks for the reply!!!

for i in *
do
if [ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ] ; then
echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil"
else
cat $GEISDIR/M* >> $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate
cp $GEISDIR/geisr.$totdate $RECENT/geisr.$totdate
cp $RECENT/geisr.$totdate $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
mv $GEISDIR/$filen $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
/usr/contrib/bin/gzip $IN_RECENT/inbound.$totdate
chmod 0777 $IN_DAILY/geisr.$totdate
fi

./inb_aez55272_bkp[48]: syntax error at line 49 : `for' unmatched

Isn't the done should come too, As we are doing a do...Please confirm.
