Hi vgersh99,

Thanks you very much for your valuable support.

Now it is not giving the execution errors, But it is not doing the desired things.

uxprd:/UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive>ls -ltr
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 edi60 edi 2048 Mar 2 10:15 backup
-rw-rw-r-- 1 edi60 edi 2590 Mar 2 16:11 M3277757

I have this file in $GEISDIR, which has UNB data.

+ cd /UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive
+ grep -c UNB M3277757
+ [ 1 -ne 0 ]
+ echo mv M3277757 /tmp/jabil
mv M3277757 /tmp/jabil
+ grep -c UNB backup
+ [ 0 -ne 0 ]
+ cat /UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive/M3277757
+ 1>> /UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive/geisr.0603021612

Acc. to the script, if its finds UNB data, it should mv that to /tmp/jabil else rest of the processing should happen. It looks like that it is copying file but it is not doing that and doing the other things.

uxprd:/UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive>cd /tmp/jabil
uxprd:/tmp/jabil>ls
uxprd:/tmp/jabil>

ls -ltr in /tmp/jabil dir.

uxprd:/UTIL/EDI/GEN52/inbound/850/receive>ls
backup geisr.0603021612

in GEISDIR it created the geisr file for processing.

Inder

This is somewhat confusing requirement!

do you mean
Code:
if found UBM
   mv file
else
   do the rest
fi

OR do you want:
Code:
if found UBM
   mv file
fi
do the rest

You can decide and change the code accordingly!

ok. what stops you from implementin' it?
you should really try to understand the logic of the code AND NOT to expect the 'fully baked' solutions......

Code:
#!/bin/ksh
cd $GEISDIR
for i in *
do
  if [ $(grep -c 'UNB' $i) -ne 0 ] ; then
    echo "mv $i /tmp/jabil"
  fi
...... the rest of your processing
done

Hi Vgersh99,

Thanks a lot for help!!!

I tried implementing both the solutions and it is not working. so I am leaving it here only.

Just a question, Can I achieve this awk or sed.

Inder

I'd suggest studin' the code, understandin' its logic and further debuggin' - don't give up so easily. You have a good startin' point.

Depends on what you mean by 'this' Smilie
I don't think awk or sed are the tools for solving your 'this' issue.
