Operating Systems HP-UX HP-UX weird FTP ?

I have never seen anything like that. HP-UX will not tolerate two files with the same filename in the same directory like that. I don't know what OS that is, but it can't be HP-UX. The only way I can think of to download that is to download one file, then delete it. Then download the second file with that filename and then delete that. And so on.

I would love to know what OS that is.

Ahh... so they told me fibs about it being HP/UX. I was sure I had actually seen that in the logon message at some stage too. As per my first message it does not list HP in the logon string now though, only "Enterprise Unix 2.2.0".

Googling that ftp banner reveals that your remote system is an AS/400. How do I do FTP from/to my AS/400? says:
Quote:
From the PC side:
ftp youriSeriesorAS400Box
quote namefmt 1
cd /your/IFS/directory
Some other pages mention "quote namefmt 1" as well. So maybe that will work.

Well it's not AS/400 FTP but your search did prompt me to look deeper and it turns out it's a product of Sterling Commerce. Furthermore we should be using a special Enterprise:Connect client to be able to download the other "batches". Thanks for the thought you guys have put in for me. I've managed to convince Sterling Commerce to contact their customer (parent of the people who want me to download these files) to sort it out. Thanks again.
