Logging into UNIX via TCP/IP Telnet

I can connect to the UNIX box using a TCP/IP Telnet session but the UNIX does not respond with the login prompt.
The box responds to a PING and the Telnet session actually connects, but no prompt of any sort is recieved back.

I can connect via the console, get the login prompt and can login.
All network settings seem to be in order.

Any ideas how to resolve the login issue via the network will be appreciated.

Maybe,

1) it is possible user profile issue.
2) DNS problem because reverse traslate.

Logging into UNIX via TCP/IP Telnet

Thank you VBE and Macorval,

I am trying to connect as root.

The "DNS problem because reverse traslate" is ringing a bell from a previous issue we had some years back, will persue that.

thanks.Smilie
