HP-UX

Hi

I need help. I'm new to UNIX and I need to learn how to add a disk on HP 9000, model 360. It currently has one disk drive with 30 mb left. I need to add another disk to the system. (The existing disk is an HP7959B 304mb using the CS-80 driver on the HPIB bus). I need to add another disk of the same type. I need a step by step listing so I know what to do. Hopefully someone could help me today =oT I need it to be done by the end of tomorrow, Monday.

Hmmm.. I've never worked on a 360. I did work with 7959's... I think. Does it weigh about 135 pounds? Do you really have another 7959? And another HP-IB cable? From a hardware standpoint, it should be easy to add another disk to the chain. You use some dip switches on the drive to assign a free address and connect the cable. It's like scsi, but there are no terminators.

How to configure the os depends on which version of hp-ux you have. With recent versions, power up the drive before you turn on the system. Then at reboot time, the os will notice it and set up the special files. But somehow I doubt that you are running hp-ux 11i.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. I have an assignment to 'add a disk' on the system specified. I am accessing the system by telnet. So I'm not actually 'physically' adding the disk. I have to configure the system (copy files, create a new file system, whatever steps are involved, etc) so that it would recognize there's a new disk there. I hope that makes sense.
