sharing of disk space between servers can be done via network file sharing protocols, but this is independent of the volume management system locally used on the various servers.
If you decide to go with network sharing, look for infos about nfs protocol.
I tried using NFS , where if i try to mount the LVM to the remote server directory , The mount is happening , but the directory is converted to a block special file.
So I dont know how to put datas in the block special file.
You don't mount Logical volumes, you mount file systems ! (That are in/on the logical volume...) and so you export File systems with NFS (Network File System) protocol.
mounting the other exported file system on a directory should show you its content...
If not you missed something
What is in serverA:/dev/vg02/exportdump ?
Where is it mounted in serverA ?
How did you export it anyway since you export File systems?
This is typically what you should have or see on serverB with bdf:
I tried what you had given in your earlier message. Is this case I can see the contents of Server A in Server B.
But the customer does not want it. He does not have any space in Server B , for which he wants to put the data in logical volume of Server A .
But he wants it to be put in server B and that should get stored in Server A.....pretty confusing right....
And also one doubt....
Can I use the logical volume of one system for storing data for another server.
Hello Guys,
I want to create a file system dedicated for an application installation. But there is no space in volume group to create a new logical volume. There is enough space in other logical volume which is being mounted on /var.
I know we can use that logical volume and create a virtual... (2 Replies)

Hello everyone,
I just read that while creating a logical volume(LV) we can choose the region of the physical volume (PV) in which the LV should be created.
When I say region I mean: outer edge - outer middle - center - inner middle and inner edge.
Can anyone help me understand the utility... (11 Replies)

Does anyone have any simple methods for moving a current logical volume from one volume group to another? I do not wish to move the data from one physical volume to another. Basically, I want to "relink" the logical volume to exist in a different volume group. Any ideas? (2 Replies)
Hello,
I have logical volume group of 50GB, in which I have 2 logical volumes, LogVol01 and LogVol02, both are of 10GB.
If I extend LogVol01 further by 10GB, then it keeps the extended copy after logical volume 2. I want to know where it keeps this information
