Question HPUX make_recovery

I'm attempting to do a make_recovery on my HPUX box. My question revolves around the number of device files I have for my tape drive and what each one is intending for and which I should use. Some examples of my devices include 1m, 1mb, 1mnb, 2m, 2mb, 2mn, 2mnb, C1t0d0best, C1t0d0dds, & C1t0d0ddsnb. These are not all of the devices, only a sampling. From reading the man pages for make_recovery & fbackup I see the "n" indicates "no rewind" and the devices that include the word "best" appear to be used in the examples for fbackup but I've yet to find a resource that describes each device in detail. I intend on making the recovery tape to include all OS volume groups and I'm going to be using the following command --
make_recovery -ACv. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Read "man 7 mt". Also cd to /dev/rmt and type:
/usr/sbin/lssf *

This should answer all your questions.

Question

Thanks! Do I want to use the no-rewind option? Does it matter when I try to restore? Is there any advanage to the Berkley or AT&T options? Does it matter if I use the 1 or 2 address?

The mt man page clearly states under "WARNINGS":

"Only raw, no-rewind Berkeley-type devices should be specified."

So follow that advice. The 1 and 2 refer to different tape drives. Use the right one.

Thanks again. I'm on a HPUX 11.00 machine. I must have an older man page because I don't see that line under warnings.
