Error NO_HW after SAN (XP1024) update

I have a production server that is down.

The microcode/firmware was updated on our XP1024. I don't manage the SANs, I manage HP-UX.

After the update I can't access my LUNs.

Ex:
Code:
 PV Name /dev/disk/disk107
   PV Status unavailable
   Total PE 868
   Free PE 311
   Autoswitch On
   Proactive Polling On

Code:
root@wpgux002:/homeroot>ioscan -fnNC disk | grep NO
disk 60 64000/0xfa00/0x13 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 62 64000/0xfa00/0x15 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 63 64000/0xfa00/0x16 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 64 64000/0xfa00/0x17 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 65 64000/0xfa00/0x18 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 66 64000/0xfa00/0x19 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 71 64000/0xfa00/0x27 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2
disk 72 64000/0xfa00/0x28 esdisk NO_HW DEVICE HP OPEN-E*2

I've tried ioscan and insf, no luck. I have a call in with HP, but they aren't helping much. Any help would be great.

This is too complex for unix.com .

Suggest you post on the HP ITRC (perhaps under LVM) mentioning the existing call to HP. Don't forget to state the exact version of HP-UX and any special disc software which you may have installed.

If you can, post on the ITRC the exact commands typed for the firmware upgrade to your SAN and make it clear what you used to have and what is missing.

Don't forget to post all "insf" commands typed and the complete output from "ioscan -fn".
They will want to know your LVM configuration but wait for directions.

Thanks.

Good luck.
If you had not mentioned a related firmware upgrade I would have suggested a close look at cabling followed by a visual inspection of the lights on every disc drive in the SAN.

Thoughts/experiences of SAN attaching V880 to EMC SAN

Hi everyone, I wonder if I can canvas any opinions or thoughts (good or bad) on SAN attaching a SUN V880/490 to an EMC Clarion SAN? At the moment the 880 is using 12 internal FC-AL disks as a db server and seems to be doing a pretty good job. It is not I/O, CPU or Memory constrained and the... (2 Replies)
