I believe you have a typo, and the question should be "which option takes precedence?". Run

thank you very much. the question they put is which option takes procedures. me also agree with you. that should be precedence. thats what made the confusion.

Still, looks like a lapsus... I would call the teacher to clarify...The sentence does not make much sense with "procedure" (but it could be because TGIF!)

ls -d is an interesting command. It will always output the answer . (i.e. the current working directory). This is because the -d parameter tells ls to not expand any directories it encounters (and that includes the current working directory).

The commmand ls -d * (or better ls -lad *) is really useful because it outputs the contents of the current directory (files, directories, whatever) without expanding any subdirectories it encounters in the current directory.

To stress. ls -d does NOT just select directories. There is no ls command which filters directories, files or whatever. Use the find command for that.
