Homework & Coursework Questions

Hello forum,

I need help on an assignment! I know it says not homework! I am really lost this is the first I ever seen this before. I use Linux!

I need to do this:

Write a program that reads file's from the command line, and have more than 100 chracters. The number of files is not fixed into my program has to be decided by the user of the program. If not file meet what I am asking for there should be a error. I have to use a while loop, cat command, and wc command.
It should be syntax of wc command is given below.

wc - print the number of bytes, words, and lines in files
-c, --bytes
print the byte counts
-m, --chars
print the character counts
-l, --lines
print the newline counts
-L, --max-line-length


I am not asking anyone to complete my assigment. I am askin for help to understand how this works. I am taking this in a online course, and the teacher has not gone over this ever and not he wants us to complete this crazy stuff. I need someone to really sit down and show me this stuff. maybe chat on yahoo messenger or something! I just need guidance!
