Set-up a mirrordisk

Hi,

i'm new to this Unix but i want to really start using it as i'm fed up with the highly paid professionals ready to "help" you.

On a Alphaserver 400 with Unix 4.0d we had a crash of all three Raid-5 drives. Luckely we had a backup-tape to restore after installation of new controller, disks and storage rack.

As i just work here i am used to think as a PC-guy (i know by now that does not good when working with UNIX and Alpha's).
I would like to have a mirror disk but then in a simple and cheap way (so no new controllers or software with complete re-install of unix etc.).

I have understood from searching the forums that dd is a way to do it (a bit like Norton Ghost on PC's ?) but it is not clear to me how to actually safely set-up the server and a .sh script file that will do the job. I'm very carefull with experimenting as the accounting software is on this server.

Would anyone be so kind to share their expertise to take me by the hand and describe how i can safely set-up a mirrored drive that is updated each night ?

Thanx
