"modprobe -r cdrom" error.

hello all,
please tell me if there is any other way to disable cdrom as modprobe is not working, i am using red hat linux server 5.

May I suggest that as root you run:
# updatedb
# locate modprobe | grep bin

This will tell you where modprobe is and you may then call it using the full path (probably /sbin/modprobe).

If that works then /sbin (or wherever modprobe is) is not in your PATH

thank you,
i tried as you said and found a module ide-cd.
it worked with "modprob -r ide_cd".
