vxdisk list output showing extra LUNs
hi fren
i am facing this problem
i have sun 6140 storage
30 volumes

bt my vxdisk list output is showing 37 disk
which shd nt b there

has neone faced this proble earlier

vxdiks list output is like this

Yes, why cant you have 30 volumes on 37 disks? Are you sure that its not the case?

If yes, please see below and let us know.

How many disk do you actually have?
What is the version of VXVM you are running?
What is the OS? Version?
What is the model of server?
What is the configuration/algorithm used for of DMP?

i hv 30 volumes on 30 disk only

There are 4 storages attached to the server wid solaris 10
al 4 are sun 6140
i have 2 SAN switches for 4 storages as i cn max add 3 storages

one volume has been assigned to the disk
i cn c dat in storage too
there is no problem from storage end

As far as i knw only those LUNs are shown in vsdisk list output that you hv assigned in the storage
plz correct me if i am wrong here
Now as i hv 2 SAN switches 4 paths should exist for each disk
bt nw whn i chek the paths assigned
via luxadm

i gt the following output
jest chek the last 7 logical disk ( they hv 2 paths )

i am right nw very cnfused .....
are these 2 problems interrelated or which is due to which and DMP has nt been assigned as i need the logical disks to assign 2 diff disk grps

i dunno if i hv explained myself very clearly
plz lemme knw

In total i hv 120 volumes for 4 storages ie 30 each
its working fine for rest of the three storages
and frm whr do i knw the version of VxVm plz lemme knw

Well, as of I know, the vxdisk list command only displays the names of the
native multipathing metanodes, and cannot display legacy names
for the devices. (i.e) There are no alternate link to the disk listed on the vxdisk list command.

As of I believe, its gonna be with DMP end only. Were there any HW changes to the server bro? Or, any changes to DMP configuration?

Are you using active/active?

# vxdmpadm getlungroup dmpnodename=c#t#d#

This could give us some more information about the paths configured.. Please make sure we are finding the paths for all the disks)

yeh the controllers were changed for the storages
For this storage both the controllers failed at one go
So both were changed

chek d below output if u cn chek nethin out Smilie

and this command

does nt seem tob working
i think dats nt an option in my system

Incorrect Usage

attribute can be one or more of ctlr, type, nodename, dmpnodename, interval
