Install qt-3.3.8 from sources, and fails with -thread
This is my problem:
I am logged in as root, and the location is:
/usr/local/qt (which is qt-X11-free-3.3.8 sources)
./configure -thread (which ends ok)
/usr/bin/make
and I got this error

There is no libpthread/thread/thr_spinlock.c dir or file or anything in /usr/local/lib. Is there a library missing ? (this pthread?)

I am trying to install the oracle client for AIX.
I downloaded the client to my Windows machine from Oracle Database 10g Release 2 for AIX5L
"Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0)".
1. Is this right? (I need 9 or 10 client)

The ping is failing SMS menu on the client to the interface for a network boot from NIM. I checked the cables, they are plugged in and lights are blinking. this is the error i am getting when I am pushing the OS on NIM

I halt the system, as documented, but when I attempt to boot off the distribution DVD; i.e.

Anybody have a problem installing version 6 on a machine with a Mylex DAC960 host adapter. Everything runs as normal until the kernel is relinked at the end of the install process. The kernel re-link fails with the message that it cannot find the scsi driver (dak) in this case. (3 Replies)

The firs step says that i need my kernel sources which i've got then it says that i've gotta unpack them so i can make links to the file later. whereis - locate the binary, source, and manual page files for a command
SYNOPSIS
whereis [-bmsu] [-BMS directory... -f] filename...
DESCRIPTION
whereis locates source/binary and manuals sections for specified files. The supplied names are first stripped of leading pathname compo-
nents and any (single) trailing extension of the form .ext, for example, .c. Prefixes of s. resulting from use of source code control are
also dealt with. whereis then attempts to locate the desired program in a list of standard Linux places.
OPTIONS -b Search only for binaries.
-m Search only for manual sections.
-s Search only for sources.
-u Search for unusual entries. A file is said to be unusual if it does not have one entry of each requested type. Thus
`whereis -m-u *' asks for those files in the current directory which have no documentation.
-B Change or otherwise limit the places where whereis searches for binaries.
-M Change or otherwise limit the places where whereis searches for manual sections.
-S Change or otherwise limit the places where whereis searches for sources.
-f Terminate the last directory list and signals the start of file names, and must be used when any of the -B, -M, or -S options are
used.
EXAMPLE
Find all files in /usr/bin which are not documented in /usr/man/man1 with source in /usr/src:
example% cd /usr/bin
example% whereis -u -M /usr/man/man1 -S /usr/src -f *

Since whereis uses chdir(2V) to run faster, pathnames given with the -M, -S, or -B must be full; that is, they must begin with a `/'.
whereis has a hard-coded path, so may not always find what you're looking for.
