AIX

Hello,
I want to decommission some AIX server. I never did that before. Some boxes has only rootvg, and some has other vg too. I have permission to log in w root previlage. Now how can I proceed? what would be the command to delete all filesystem reside on the rootvg and other vg? Is there any command that I can use to remove all filesystem at once? any script? servers are running AIX 5.3. Please help asap.

Am I correct in saying that you want to delete the all of the filesystem?

If yes. Please try this. cat /etc/services > / or you can lsvg rootvg and pipe some text files to and it will delete the filesystem.

yes I want to remove the file system.
I am new in AIX, so if it possible can you explain a bit details.
I have rootvg, under that two disk. some lv's under disk are mirror. No SAN, just disk by itself.
I want to remove all filesystem like, filesystem under /home, /usr, not the core file but other files and user created lv's and so on.

Im asumming that you have all the data backup of the decomissioned server.

by typing cat /etc/services > /

or the dd command

dd if=/dev/null of=<device name>
