Operating Systems AIX how to increase FS size on SAN DS4800 ?

IT DID NOT WORK on an another server ! (Very more important of course).
I had the well known message :
0516-1382 chvg: Volume group is not changed. None of the disks in the volume group have grown in size.
0516-732 chvg: Unable to change volume group uservg.

After a reboot of the system, modifications are still NOT applyed, and chvg -g datavg still does NOT work !!!
Is there a difference between "reboot" and "varyoff/varyon" ?

Apparently LVM did not detect any changes to your SAN disk(s) even after a reboot. Hence it did not (could not) extend the VG. For troubleshooting first make sure that you are on a suitable microcode level for your oslevel (both for fc adapter and FastT). Check the LUN's properties (i.e. size) and if it grew check the communication between FastT and server.

From LVM view varyoff/varyon is the same as a reboot. However, during a reboot the adapters are reset also, the drivers are loaded into the kernel afresh and so on. This can make a difference.
