Could you please repead the command lsuser edsadm as user edsadm and show me the content /etc/methods.cfg.

Hi Ron,

I guess this is where the problem is.. Request you to confirm..

Code:
emamidev:edsadm 4> lsuser edsadm
3004-687 User "edsadm" does not exist.
emamidev:edsadm 5> more /etc/methods.cfg
/etc/methods.cfg: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.
emamidev:edsadm 6> exit
emamidev:edsadm 7> logout
# cd /etc
# more methods.cfg
methods.cfg: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

This file exists in another system where things are working fine. The machine in problem is running with AIX 5.3 and the one working is running with AIX 7.1

Thanks and Regards
Madhav

HI Ron,

but it exists in
Code:

Hi Ron,

Surprise.. Surprise.. The
Code:
methods.cfg

file in location
Code:
/usr/lib/security

did not have read permissions and it was owned by root and system group.

I have changed it the permissions of that file to
Code:
root:security

it started working like a miracle.

Thanks a Ton for working along with this one for us...

Thanks and Regards
Madhav

Hi,

i have no AIX 5.3 (only 7.1) for confirmation but i guess it should be equal.

1) Check the symbolic link
Code:
ls -la /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     security         16 Nov 18 2011  /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg -> /etc/methods.cfg

2) If no file is available you can try to restore it or use the default on from /usr/lpp/bos/inst_root/etc/methods.cfg

Regards

EDIT:
Cool. But I would copy the file to /etc and create a link to it.
Code:
 mv /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg /etc/methods.cfg
ln -s /etc/methods.cfg /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg
