AIX 3.2.5 Assistance

I am looking for any help on locating a set of install disks or downloads of AIX 3.2.5 or earlier.. We recently lost our HDD running AIX 3.2.5 and need to reinstall but have no OS disk to complete.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

What about a backup? Didn't you take backups with "mksysb"? If you have one you can boot and reinstall from this (tape).

I hope this helps.

Sounds like you had no backup at all. It might be a bit late to tell you, but: "backup" is not "i (probably) have written something to tape", but "i have written something to a tape i made sure i can read from".

I hate to say it, but AIX 3.2.5 is something you will most probably get absolutely nowhere. It went out of support somewhere around 1997 and i doubt that anybody has media that old (and still readable). I had 3.2.5 installed on a Model 32H which i tossed out some 15 years ago for a 43P running AIX 4.3.3 (and later 5.1).

I hope this helps (yes, this sounds cynical, but it is meant in earnest).

bakunim is absolutely correct...by the way, the old point of sale cash registers ibm sold ran aix 3.2.5.

You would have to scour the net to find install media.

It really is past time to move on. Is there a critical app on this system? Is there critical data? You may be able to recover some of the data. You should be able to extract some information from the mksysb's, by using tctl and skipping over the system image.
