Error Problems to show the real used space

Hello everybody!

I have the next problem, the oraganization has a p570 with a DS4300 on a SAN, running Oracle. The file systems of TEMP and UNDO were full, I eliminated some large files, (about 4 GB), but everytime that I realize this operation, it takes about 20 or 30 minutes to show the new free space.
Is a problem with the disk array? or could be a problem in the OS(AIX 5.3 ML 1)?

Please can somebody help me with this?

In advance thanks for the help.

Happy Holidays!!

hmmm, missing the details I'm left to some guesses, but:

Yes, ML 1 is a bad idea to use, it is a good idea to grade up to 5.3 ML3.

The space on a device is finally freed up only, when the last process has stopped accessing it. That means: you have one process A writing to a file and using up diskspace. Now, from another process B, you delete the file process A writes to. This is possible, but the diskspace will be reported as being in use as long as process A is still running. Only after killing (or otherwise ending) it the space will be reported as free. You can try that easily out with a small test-fs and a small shellscript. Might something like this be happening and causing the delay?

I hope this helps.
