Printer Admin/Management Group

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to know if there is a printer management or administration group in AIX 6.1 by default or if one needed to be created. I've searched online and I can't seem to find a solid answer.

My goal is to allow two users the ability to add, delete, change printers without having to give up root access.

Thanks so much for any input.

Hi,

there is a printq group which will allow the users who belong to that group to do administration tasks for the printing spooling system. I don't know if they will be able to perform all the tasks you want them to. Another approach is to use sudo for the specific tasks for those users. That way you can give them root-access for a few tasks.

Regards,

vincent
