There are the "classics", utmp and wtmp, several files in /var, /etc/security is also worth a look.

To truncate logfiles you can use "skulker", which is part of the base system.

"man skulker" is a worthy read.

Hi bala

all the error are logged to the /var/adm/ras/errlog..................
Any error occurs the system will automatically log the message in the above file.............it might be hardware,or software or any information message are logged into the errlog file............

or you can cofigure the syslog.conf file and from there u can conigure to any other file where u required.............

errpt also

A good place to see hardware and software errors is also by checking the error report. You may have already checked the errpt, just thought I would mention it.

errpt -a |more

Also using diag you can check for any hardware issues.

/var is mainly used as a lv for storing log files....

use skulker to clean up the old unwanted files... u can also configure skulker to your needs....

if ur using hacmp, the nlogs will be in hacmp.out in /local/....
