AIX Constant Rebooting

IBM has replaced all parts in the system 3 times. Had electrician check to make sure the dedicated electrical circuit was good. Made sure the server rack was grounded, but AIX keeps shutting down when everyone is on the system. Reloaded AIX on the system. If the system is left alone it will stay up.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can search for to locate what is causing this issue?

Thanks!!

suggest you check output of errpt -a, run diag and post results ....gluck

errpt

The errpt -a command only shows that there was electrical failure. I have had the electricians come in the our building and check the dedicated circuit we have, plus there is a APC 1500 UPS that the system is plugged into. IBM has been in to replace every part 3 times, plus two different servers.

Is there any other error commands besides errpt?

Thanks.

is the UPS OK? is there any situation that the UPS goes into overload conditions temporarily (i.e., 4 servers normally attached but additional server attached for testing)? i had a server reboot at "fun" times because the UPS that was feeding it power kept power-cycling ... problem fixed when UPS was replaced ...

as an added measure --- if the server has 2 power supplies --- attach 1 power supply to the UPS and the other 1 to another UPS that is attached to a different circuit ... if you don't have a second UPS --- attach the 2nd power cord directly to the circuit ... this should eliminate more than a few power issues as the power supply will still be operational as long as either UPS is functional in a 2 UPS setup or as long as either the UPS or the direct circuit conmnection could still supply power in a UPS-direct setup ...

String Constant C

I wonder string constant exists permanently or temporary. For example, printf("hello, world"); the function printf access to it is through a pointer. Does it mean storage is allocated for the string constant to exist permanently in memory? (4 Replies)
