Which port?

Is there a particular command I can run to determine what port our MQ series is running on? I know the default port is 1414, but I need to know for sure that it was installed and running on that part so I can start the listener. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ports are configured in /etc/services, so a "view /etc/services" might help.

If the software is already running and making connections you could find out with "netstat" (man netstat) which ports are in use and by whom.

Sorry, I'm not so well versed in AIX... Yes, the MQ is up and running (as evidenced by the dspmq command). I can't seem to see anything in the services that indicates what is MQ is using. Since it is up and running, I tried all kinds of things showing up with netstat, but I am not seeing anywhere where the port number is listed. :-( I can see the queue managers, but nothing that tells me what port. I hate to be a pain, but can you tell me what option to use to actually see the port number? I feel like I've tried almost all of the vmstat options that the man pages says, but haven't gotten what I need yet...

Please run this command and post the results:
grep MQ /etc/services

/etc/services is no AIX speciality but common to all UN*X operating systems.

Perderabo has told you already how to search it for MQ-Series entries, more information about grep can be found by issuing "man grep" on the commandline.

A list of active connections along with the ports used can be displayed by "netstat -a" ("netstat -an"). To quote from the output of "man netstat":

Quote:
-a Shows the state of all sockets. Without this flag, sockets used by server processes are not shown.

there one thing u can try
1)search for "amqcrsta" or "mqm" in the file inetd.conf (in /etc directory for AIX). note the first and last entry in the line will give you the name with with your MQ manager is registered.
2) search the /etc/services file for the first entry and will give you port
3) netstat -an | grep <port> will tell you if MQ is listening

ps -ef | grep runmqlsr

if the -p option is not specified then it is the default port (1414)

bash-2.03$ ps -ef | grep runmqlsr
mquser 11111 1 0 Aug 15 ? 0:02 runmqlsr -m my.queue.manager -t tcp -p 5050

Hope this helps
