A separate approach could be to delete the filesets that are not updating properly. To help decide you could use lslpp -f <filesetName> and look at the files included and determine if there are any you actually need. If not you could delete and the command oslevel -s will give you the level you expect.
Use "oslevel -qs" (q=query) to see all the oslevels your system knows about. Hopefully, the TL8 is at the top of your list.
Code:
hostname:/:$ oslevel -qs
Known Service Packs
-------------------
7100-01-04-1216
7100-01-03-1207
7100-01-02-1150
7100-01-01-1141
7100-01-00-0000
7100-00-05-1207
7100-00-04-1140
7100-00-03-1115
7100-00-02-1041
7100-00-01-1037
hostname:/:$
Then use "oslevel -sl 7100-01-04-1216" (l=lacking) with the version number being the level you are trying to get to and it should tell you which filesets are down leveled. You can then focus your efforts on finding later versions of them and getting them updated.
Thanks for your replies. The issue has been solved.
1) First I've uninstalled the printer language filesets.
2) 2nd I have uninstalled the UUCP fileset(Broken), idendified this fileset was broken due to the UUCP id wasn't present in the server, so I've created that id and installed the UUCP base version(bos.net.uucp 6.1.6.0 ) from the base media and then installed the latest version( bos.net.uucp 6.1.8.0). Now the issue got solved and my AIX got upgrated to TL8 successfully.
Code:
Before upgrading :
bos.net.uucp 6.1.8.0 (BROKEN)

Hi guys
I have joined a new department and one of my tasks is to investigate the feasibility of upgrading our current AIX v 4.3 to V5.3.
I do not know anything about AIX and any actual work will be done by an outside consultant until such time as I have built up my own knowledge.
The system we... (3 Replies)
