pinging IP's in a file

Hey all. I have a long list of IP addresses I want to ping. The IP's are located in a flat file "ping_info.dat".

I was wondering what the best way to go about this would be. Can someone help me out?

A simple solution would be to use a for loop :-
for x in `pg file`
do
ping -options $x
done

Hope this helps...

See this thread. It contains a script called pingnodes that does exactly what you are looking for. I have used it to ping a list about 1000 nodes.
