No, AIX 5.1 is simply too old to have the drivers required to run on the p510 hardware.

As all of them said , 5.1 is out of the support scope . So , instead of going with 5.1 why dont you ask your app team to upgrade their software
- Install 5.3/6.1 using alternate disk
- Boot with alternate disk
- Install the upgraded software
- Check if it goes well

Its always better to convince your client to go with latest one, else they have to pay a lot more if irrecoverable happens.

No, the system is far too new to support an older OS like AIX 5.1.
Why would IBM release new firmware to support an OS that is so old it was released in 2001 and has been out of support since 2006!
The OS is just too old to have the device drivers to support the p5 hardware.

The best advice - if it absolutely positively has to be AIX 5.1 - is to but a suitably old hardware to run it.

For instance i googled a bit and found one (german) hardware dealer who sells used hardware. I have not had any experiences with them, just found them while searching the net: Gall.de.

One of the "43P" or "44P" models are what you need to run 5.1.

I hope this helps.
