Hello everyone!

I have a problem with printing ru_RU.UTF-8 from AIX using lp command.

#locale -a
C
POSIX
RU_RU.UTF-8
RU_RU
en_US.8859-15
en_US.ISO8859-1
en_US
ru_RU.ISO8859-5
ru_RU

#locale

That what i print (lp -dmyqueue 1.txt):

АБВГДЕЁЖЗИКЛМНОПРСТУФХЦЧШЩЪЫЬЭЮЯ

That what i get:

А_ВГ_ЕЁ_____МНО_РСТ_ФХ__________

My printer is hp lj 4015dn
Driver is HpJetDirect hp laserjet4+

Printer queue is set to UTF-8 printing.

Please help.

It's not printing garbage, and it couldn't print Г Ё Ф if UTF8 didn't work.

I think your printer just doesn't have Russian characters for that typeface.

How can i solve this problem?

I'm not intimately familiar with AIX's printing system or HP's printers, but what I'd do first is find out more about the printer, see if it'll tell you what fonts and regions it has installed. If it has no fonts for your region at all you'll need to upload or install one somehow.
