Whats up ppl...
I'm at a loss here.. Getting help with old versions of AIX is quite stressful lol...
Anyways.. My situation is that I (my company) has an old Powerserver 220 running AIX 3.2.5.
The server is about to crap out, and we need to move the system over to a newer box.
I've performed a
mksysb on the old system and that was sucessfull.
I know have a
IBM RS/6000 7043-150 Server which was pursches used from Elarasys in the US.
On the HD the previous owner had AIX 5 installed, which boots, but I do not know the root password.
Either way i'm not interested in AIX at the moment... What I'd like to do is restore my backup onto the new box... and that is proving to be very difficult.
The boot device is set to Floppy, Tape, CDR, Ethernet...
So it does access the tape at the begining for about 3-4 mins, and then just continues to boot the OS on the HD (AIX 5). And I have no idea why.
Also, currently all of the subsystems on the old server seem to be not responding anymore... the one I especially need is
qdaemon... if I try to check the subsystems through SMIT or manualy through startsrc I get an error msg:
0513-056 Timeout waiting for command response.
Any idea how I can re-start these subsystem(s)??
I'm really in a pickle here... no one can print because of this, and everyone is freeking out...
Any help on either of these issues would be great!
Regards,
Sascha
