if you want to use mpio - this is part of AIX. If you use HDS or EMC storage than the drivers come from the vendor. I think IBM storage brings its own multipath software too (not sure - I seem to end up always in EMC companies Smilie )

If your storage is presented via vscsi from the vio servers, than AIX will use MPIO pretty much by default but you will have to set up the failover and path settings like queuedepth and priority ....

With Hitachi's SAN, you can use their HDLM software or you can just install the fileset named "devices.fcp.disk.Hitachi.modular.mpio.rte" and use IBM's built in MPIO software. The fileset allows your AIX box to correctly identify the disks as Hitachi disks. Without it, the disks are identified as something like "FC Other Disk".

manoj.solaris,

There is now a built in MPIO software in AIX 7.0. It will automatically detect SAN devices from EMC but if your using EMC there is a software from them called POWERPATH.
