Migration DB2 V8 databases to Power7 server

hi Guys,

I just wondering if someone has gone through this process before. We are about to migrate all our current LPARS from a Power6 server to a new Power7 server. The only concern we have is that we are runing a few DB2 V8 databases on AIX 5.3 and basically DB2 v8 is been out of support for a while and due this reason IBM is not giving us much details about whether this is going to work. It should not be a problem as we are just changing hardware but would be good to know if someone has gone through this. thanks..

I haven't migrated DB2 old versions but i've migrated some Progress8 versions that were also not officially supported and that works.
AIX is most likely to be backwards compatible at least with AIX5L binaries.

It's not advisable but if it's the only way to go then you have to make some choices :-)
If the supporti s already end of life for DB2 V8 (i don't know) then it doesn't matter running it on 5.3 or 6.1 .... (as far as DB2 support).

Thanks for your reply. Yes it makes sense and pretty sure that even IBM must be already aware of other clients runining unsupported versions of databases but ...
