mksysb installation(clone) on a different server

if VG_SOURCE_DISK_LIST varaible(value set to = hdisk1 hdisk0 )is set in image.data file when taking mksysb image backup on a source server and if we use this image to install it on a different server(clone). Does it warn during installation on the target server if it doesn't have disks hdisk1 and hdisk0.

what happens if the above variable is set to nothing?

Also is there any way to automate this step instead of manual intervention by administrator during installation. Asking the bos install program to select available disks on the target servers instead of looking for disk names hdisk0 hdisk1.

I have done it not so far ago. It will ask you to choose which disk you want to install .So if you use it on different server. It is OK.of course, use the maintain mode to choose install from a backup.
I hope i fully understand what you are saying....
