Hello to all,
Im having a new task in a new world (AIX - IBM Servers)
I have an IBM Server (Type - 9111-285 very old one) with one Hard disk (73 GB 10 K) with AIX 5.x, and I need to clone the existing disk to another with the same specifications.

working through VIOS backup options. Generally, we store mksysb's on a server and then NFS mount them from it to copy to a VIO optical library, etc.
In the case of a VIO backup, I see the -mksysb option to backupios and understand that it doesn't include the NIM resources in the backup.

I am very new to AIX, I have a mksysb image in one of my aix server (V6), I would like to install this mksysb image on newly lpar. Is it possible without tape and NIM?

It's a DHCP server. We want to make a clone for fail over purpose since there are some identical systems available here. We do have a secondary DHCP server.
Hardware: Sun v120. OS: Solaris 9. Two disks without array, /var and /opt on the secondary disk.

I am trying to install a server from a mksysb made on an other server but whit his proper image.data and bosinst.data, but after selecting boot from DLT tape and starting installation in normal mode with default setting, I get this error message :

Hi again, we have several types of backups we do here. On the workstations backups that we do every 3 months, we do 2 backups on each ones: mksysb and a TAR /.
I need to understand better what that mksysb does
and
figure out if doing both is useless where only one is enough
