I have a set of directories, which has inside them, symbolic links to some files. What i would like to do is to covert the links into actual files, i.e. remove the link and copy the actual file here...

I run a command in the shell that run another process. I need a way to provide the command's pid to the subprocess. For instance, if I run the command foo:
foo process_to_run -p foo's_pid

I need to have my script know what directory it's in, even if it's run from a symlink located elsewhere. Is there any way to get the original names (not the login names) of users currently logged on to the machine and the processes they are logged on to...names as in abc xyz and not abc.xyz

I have a Supermicro server with a P4SCI mother board running Debian Sarge 3.1. This is the "dmidecode" output related to RAM info:
RAM speed information is incomplete.. "Current Speed: Unknown", is there anyway/soft to get the speed of installed RAM modules? thanks!!
