Lightbulb Automated Disk space recovery script

Hi,

I have to write a shell script for disk space recovery - We have been facing disk space shortage issues very often.
Code:
d=`df -k |awk '{print $5}' | egrep "[5-9][0-9]" | cut -c-2`
if [ "$d" == "50" ]
then
  echo "DISK SPACE STATUS :NOT OK" >> /backup/stats/healthcheck/SCP1_BLU_HCsummary_$dt.txt
else
  echo "DISK SPACE STATUS :OK" >> /backup/stats/healthcheck/SCP1_BLU_HCsummary_$dt.txt
fi
find . \( -name a.out -o -name '*.o' -o -name 'core' \) -exec rm {} \;

I have to combine these 2 functions (set a threshold and monitor and delete core and log files etc) in a script with additional unwanted file extensions. The script will run as a cronjob twice in a day.

Could you please write me any better idea / sample snippet which would help to maintain disk space in AIX 5.3. ?

Thanks in advance
Vasu

Hi.

"$5" for df on AIX shows inodes used.

$6 shows disk space used.

Your calculation also assumes that exactly 50% is used - not more than 50%?

On top of that, you want to delete .o files? That might make application developers slightly mad!

Code:
df -k | awk '$6+0 >= 50' | while read FS x x x x PC; do
  echo $FS is at $PC full
  .... find ..... -exec rm ...
done

I think skulker is fine.
do:
Code:
man skulker

normal skulker was started dailly, you can start it twice a day.
